MAC OS X 10.8 'Mountain Lion' compatibility with MYOB products

Are there any compatibility issues with the MYOB MAC products on the new operating system, OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion"?

Apple has released its latest operating system, OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion". Our testing has shown that AccountEdge v11.5, AccountEdge Network Edition v11.5, and FirstEdge v4 will operate with the exception of the issues described below.

The latest versions of AccountEdge (AccountEdge Pro v12, AccountEdge Network Edition v12, and AcountEdge Basic v1) are all compatible with OS X 10.8.

 

OS X 10.8 and GateKeeper

OS X 10.8 introduces a security feature called "Gatekeeper" that may prevent downloaded versions of AccountEdge prior to v11.5 from being installed. See the following Macworld article for more information on Gatekeeper.

This can be managed by changing the System Preferences as follows:

  1. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

  2. Click Security & Privacy.

  3. Click the General tab.

  4. For the preference Allow applications downloaded from, select the Anywhere option as shown below.

MYOB Activation & Confirmation

If you're using FirstEdge v4, you will not be able to connect to the Online Activation and Confirmation service when using OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. The free automated phone confirmation service can still be used to activate or confirm your company files. AccountEdge Basic v1 is now available which replaces FirstEdge and this version allows online activation and confirmation.

Downloading the update for OS X 10.7 "Lion" - AccountEdge v9.6 ONLY

  1. Click the applicable link below to download the update:

    AccountEdge update

    AccountEdge Network Edition update

    The download should automatically decompress and mount a disk image. If not, you can decompress the download manually by using Stuffit Expander or another decompression utility. Go to www.stuffit.com for more information.

  2. If you receive a message about the update file containing an application, click Continue.

  3. Once the file is downloaded, decompressed and mounted, the following screen will appear:

    If this screen does not appear, find the decompressed download (.dmg) and open it.

 

Installing the update

The updated application is NOT installed via an installer. Instead, you will need to drag and drop the updated release to replace your existing AccountEdge application.

To do this:

  1. Make a backup of your company file and quit out of AccountEdge.

  2. Using the Finder, open your Applications folder.

  3. Within the Applications folder, find and open your AccountEdge v9 folder. This folder is typically named MYOB AccountEdge 9.

  4. If you haven't already done so, open the downloaded disk image for the update so that it is viewable in the Finder.

  5. Drag the AccountEdge application from the disk image to the MYOB AccountEdge 9 folder which you opened in step 3.

  6. When asked, choose to replace the existing application. See our example below.
